Touhou Shinjutou ～ Hollow Song of Birds (東方真珠島) is a Touhou Project fangame developed raichu, ido and Shijimi Nono in 2018 with the Danmakufu PH3 engine.

Gameplay overview

Gameplay revolves in collecting crystals to increase score. Bombing will further increase the value and score. Lives and bombs also have a gauge, which when full, bombs and Extends are awarded.

Controls

Like the official games, uses the standard Touhou control scheme, as well the addition of the Z-Spell bomb button.

• Z: Shoot
• X: Bomb
• C: Z-Spell bomb
• Shift: Focus

On keyboard, movement can be done using either the arrow keys or the number pad. The gamepad can also be configured using the config program of the game.

Difficulties

The game has 4 difficulty modes. The higher difficulties are, of course, harder, and also have higher scoring potential. The difficulty modes are:

• Easy
• Normal
• Hard
• Lunatic

The game also has an Extra stage, which has the original Extra difficulty, and as well the addition of an Extra Easy difficulty. To unlock Extra, the player has to 1cc the main game on any difficulty.

Scoring is highly based on the collecting point items, and leaf items, as well trying to get spellcard bonuses.

Playable Characters and Shot weaponry

Hollow Song of Birds has 3 playable characters, with one unlockable by clearing the game once on any difficulty

Hakurei Reimu

Hakurei Reimu			A
		Homing Type of Beautiful Eastern Wind	Rapid Fire Type of White Southern Wind
		Description: Reimu is a homing shot attacker type. Her shots will chase down any enemy on screen.
		Shot: Homing Amulet Counter Incantation: Hakurei Fantasy Arcanum - Phantasm Prayer

Items

	Crystal items: Increases score and score value provider. Killing enemies with bombs can increase it´s value further, and it´s color variates on the gem equipped.
	Cancel items: Spawns from some bullet cancels and provides score and increased score value provider
	1UP: Gives a full Extend.

Trivia

• In the Extra Stage, EX mid-boss 3 Horou´s pattern is a reference to Yuyuko´s pre-final spellcard from Perfect Cherry Blossom.
