Merkava: The Sacred Armour of Meirav is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up developed by Salem Electrónica and released in 2025. It was the first commercial video game developed by the company.
Story
After a long period without any sign of the Creator, the angel Dinah decides to gather legions of angels and beasts in order to exterminate humanity, unleashing the apocalypse. Only a prophecy can save mankind: the purest person on Earth shall wield a divine weapon known as the Merkava and bring an end to the apocalypse.
Gameplay Overview
Merkava: The Sacred Armour of Meirav features four weapon types, three of which are unlocked by clearing stages. The game also includes a projectile-reflecting shield mechanic, four stages, four bosses, three game modes, and achievements.
Controls
- A: Shot Projectiles that can be fired in bursts by holding the shot button.
- B: Charge Beam Features three charge levels. It does not disappear on contact, allowing it to destroy everything in its path.
- C: Laser Deals 1 point of damage per frame.
- D: Sword A melee weapon with short range, but capable of extremely rapid attacks, allowing for very high damage output with proper coordination.
- R: Shield Merkava's main gameplay mechanic. It allows the player to reflect all blue-colored projectiles. While it can be used offensively, it primarily serves as a defensive tool.
- L2/R2: Rotation Allows the player to adjust the firing angle by rotating independently from movement.
