Blue Wish Resurrection Plus

Start Screen

Developer: x.x
Release date: 2005

Blue Wish 2005 is a shmup by x.x gameroom in 2005 created by the Tonyu System game engine. It is one of x.x`s earliest titles, and it`s known for it`s hellish patterns, pre-rendered graphics (that were made in Totekan CG) and gameplay mechanics.

Gameplay Overview

The game uses similar CAVE mechanics, shot, focus, bombs, etc.

The game has an optional "Auto-bomb" mechanic put in place which can be turnt off in the options menu. When the player is hit, they will be triggered like manual bombing.

Bombs are either big blasts that cover a portion of the screen (Unfocused), or a mega laser blast (Focused), depending on when the player bombs.

The game has 3 difficulties:

Heaven: A mode for beginners. Has some pretty forgiving patterns.

Original: The base difficulty of the game.

Desperate: An insanely hard mode with tons of bullets.

Ships

Note: Ship stats are rough stimates until more concrete data is found. Research needed.

Blue Wish Unfocused Focused Damage
BW2005 Blue Wish.png Spread Narrow Average

Unfocused Shot: Sends shots to all directions at a 90° angle

Focus Shot: Concentrates its fire to the center, with the options moving clockwise around the front of the ship.

The titular ship is very similar to Type-C ship from DoDonPachi, with a wide shot for its unfocused shot, and narrow array for its focused shot. It is a very easy ship to use, but its damage is overall lackluster when compared to other ships.

Blue Hope Unfocused Focused Damage
300px Semi-Spread Narrow Average

Unfocused Shot: Fires both linear shots to the center while options wiggle left and right to spread bullets

Focused Shot: Options aim forwardly and fire laser shots.

Blue Hope has very little spread on its unfocused shot, but both shots have good firepower, making this ship the most damaging one no matter the situation. Their good damage makes them great for boss fights, but stages may get complicated if the player doesn't know enemy placing and stage layouts.

Blue Peace Unfocused Focused Damage
300p Narrow Lock-on High

Unfocused Shot: Forward shots.

Focused Shot: Lock-on shots.

Blue Peace is a unlockable hidden ship that can be accessed by holding for some time. It has very strong firepower, but lacks of bombs. If the player is not careful when operating this ship, it can result in too many deaths, potentially leading to a 1CC loss.

Items

Power Up
Increases your shot power (max power after the 4th item). With max power, grabbing a new one will increase score by 5.000 points.
Bomb
Increases your bomb stock by 1.
Item
Spawns from destroyed enemies and cancelled bullets. They grant higher score value if collected quickly.
1UP
Appears under certain conditions. Grants an extra life.

Scoring

Scoring consists of collecting cubes. The faster they`re picked up, the more value they grant.

Extends

Score extends thresholds are first at 3000000 then the 2nd one at 7000000.

There are hidden extends in stage locations:

  • Stage 3: Hidden somewhere in the middle before the boss.
  • Stage 5: During the section with 2 white cannons on both sides, destroy the green middle guy first before taking care of the side cannons.

True Last Boss / TLB

The TLB is only available in Desperate Mode, and appears with no other conditions but to play trough that entire mode until Boss 5 is defeated. It is infamous for it`s nightmare fuel patterns, making it pretty much impossible to 1cc this boss.

Trivia

  • The infamous Desperate TLB possibly inspired the creation of Inbachi in SaiDaiOuJou.
