Gameplay Overview
1942 is a 2-button shooter. There are 32 stages; a 10,000,000 point bonus is rewarded at the end of the game.
Extends are granted at 20,000 points then every 80,000 points. They can also appear in the form of a Pow icon.
Controls
- A button (Press/Hold): Fires the player's main shot.
- B button (Press): Activates the player's bomb.
Items
Pow icons give a 1,000 point bonus on pickup.

Gray Pow Adds two side fighters/options to the ship. Can't be equipped during bosses. | |
Orange Pow Stops enemy bullets from spawning for a brief moment. | |

Black Pow Grants an extend. Dropped sparingly. | |
Red Pow Flat 1,000 point bonus. Appears after every 200 enemies. | |
Yashichi Grants a 5,000 point bonus. Dropped from certain enemies. |
Scoring
End of Stage Bonus
The total stage bonus is based on two factors: Enemy Percentage + Bomb Bonus.

Bomb Bonus
Each bomb in stock is worth 1,000 points.
Tick Points
Every hit on a medium/large enemy is worth 100 points.
