Gekidan Machina (撃弾マキナ) is a shmup by HEY / 凍結 in 2016 created in the STGBuilder game engine. The game features a Mecha Ritz styled BGM, and as well tributes CAVE, Toaplan, etc.

Menu

  • Start: Begin the game
  • Option: Change weaponry, difficulty and tweak some EX options.
  • Stage Select: Choose any stage to practice from.

Gameplay Overview

The player controls a girl, and it´s customizable weaponry (changable in options). The player has 3 slots of Sub-skill. Each stage has 2 mid-bosses and a boss each. Destroying all their parts results in a Break Bonus.

There´s also a combo mechanic that builds up when killing enemies. As well features it´s Max combo reached mechanic.

Like Mecha Ritz, if all lives are lost, it will result in an absolute loss with no continiues available.

Controls

  • Button 1: Shot
  • Button 2: Bomb/Hyper

Difficulties

They can be changed in options.

  • Safety: An easy difficulty mode.
  • Advance: The standard difficulty mode.
  • Risky: A ridiciously hard difficulty mode.

Description: Grants brief i-frames.

Scoring

The scoring relies on multiplier that increases when killing enemies, and it´s value is up to 16x. It resets if combo timer gauge depletes.

After the stage is cleared, the bonus is summed up. There´s also bonuses for No-Miss clearing a stage or if all boss parts are destroyed for a Break Bonus.

Unlockables

  • True Last Boss: Triggered by playing on Advance or Risky and beating all 5 stages with at least 4 lives. Beating it once will unlock it for stage select.
  • Boss Rush: Fight all 5 bosses. Unlocked by clearing game once (on newer versions).
  • Exceed Extra: A special boss rush course with a unique deadly difficulty style. Unlocked by clearing game once (on newer versions)
  • EX options: The unlockable EX options are high-speed, stealth, giant, vibrate and boundary reflection. (Unlock conditions currently not checked?)
